I Too Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
She sings of joy
and the protection it brings.
As out in the yonder of sun-drenched fields
she remembers the danger of forgotten raids and pillages demented minds do yield.
She smells the blood from war-drenched soils.
She hears the cries when they divided spoils.
She feels the pain of reigning fists
that violence in love professes as bliss.
The kisses she missed,
if you insist,
belongs to ravages that blistered her privates and scarred her flesh.
Yes, from these she fled.
She's considered blessed.
For now the painful thoughts are healed.
She's found a Savior. She's has a hope.
With life's constant dangers, she now can cope.
Though all these crimes were not always mine, I suffered the news. My eyes not blind.
Yet, now I have Good News to tell
across steep mountains
in deserts and valley
where the rivers do swell
around the globe
I'd joyfully sing or yell
to All Who Suffer:
All Will Be Well!
Write a poem for contest The Caged Bird
Tell me what your cage is. Is it another person, a relationship, a place... maybe your own mind and heart.
What is it like being the caged bird? Write about your song.
Do you look for a way out, dream of a different life, or sing at the top of your lungs about freedom, about that grave of dreams?
Rules:
Metaphors, creativity, and imagery are all desired.
Nothing obscene or explicit.

Use proper grammer, punctuation, and capitalization. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2015323#h=10:0-11:757
